Cheap Trick Bang Zoom Crazy… Hello Album
The album was released on 1st April 2016. It is the seventeenth studio album recorded by the Cheap Trick Band since its formation. The album was recorded big machine and the producers being Cheap Trick and Julian Raymond. It is a significant album to be recorded without featuring Bun E. Carlos who had left the group.
The album has been termed as a repertoire of their 70’s albums such as ‘in color’, ‘heaven tonight’ and ‘dream police’.
Bang zoom crazy…hello has two major singles, ‘no direction home’ released on December 20th, 2015, and ‘when I wake up tomorrow’ released on March 4th 2016, and a music video for the single was recorded.
‘No direction home’ was released as a lead song from the album. The song was offered free online download as a celebration for the band’s induction to the hall of fame, and also their record deal with big machine records.
The album contains a total of 13 songs where two of them are Japanese edition bonus tracks; “Arabesque” and “I’d Give It Up”. The whole album has a length of 39:41 minutes. Other songs in the album include ‘Heart on the Line’, ‘Do You Believe Me?’, ‘blood red lips’, ‘Sing My Blues Away’ among others.
Reviews of the Album
The album received positive reviews from music critics. For instance, at Metacritic, it received a 74% review based on twelve reviews. All music rated the album 3.5 stars, the A.V club gave it a B- rating, American songwriters gave the album a four-star, the consequence of sound graded it as C and PopMatters gave the album eight stars.
Album Chart Ranking
In the charts, the album had different reception in various countries. This includes: in Belgian albums chart (ultratop Wallonia) it peaked at position 113. Canadian albums billboard, it was number 79, UK albums (OCC) it was position 111 and US top rock albums billboard it ranked to position 4.
Commercial Performance
Immediately after its release, the album of Cheap Trick Band was ranked number 31 on the billboard 200 in the United States, where it sold 14,000 copies in the first week. The rank, however, dropped in the second week to number 134 on the billboard 200 and was completely off the chart the following two weeks.
